Manitobah Mukluks is dedicated to sharing success and our platform with Indigenous ARTists and creators. We designed this Limited Edition Tamarack Mukluk in collaboration with Victoria’s Arctic Fashion.

About the ARTist:

The creator of VAF, Victoria Kakuktinniq, a Nunavummiut, born and raised in Rankin Inlet, has always been deeply immersed in the Inuit culture. Surrounded by skilled seamstresses, Victoria was always intrigued and inspired by the parkas she saw sewn. Following a traditional sewing course in Rankin Inlet, she knew she had found her passion and soon after enrolled at MC College in Winnipeg, where she would prefect her craft in the Fashion Design and Apparel Production program. Victoria gained notoriety there for her form fitting parkas, with signature embroideries. Soon after completing the program, Victoria returned to Nunavut and created Victoria’s Arctic Fashion.

About the ART:

“Inspiration for this design came from our ancestors, especially my mother and grandmother. Growing up, my mom provided our family with warm winter clothing such as parkas, Mitts, and windpants. This was a great way for us to express our Inuit identity through our clothing and inspired me to do the same for my family. My grandmother, Lizzie lttinuar is a well-known seamstress who creates beautiful traditional beaded amautiks, ones that take up to a year to complete. Her dedication has always inspired me, her work is showcased in ART museums around the world. Her work features intricate detail and elaborate beadwork decoration. The beadwork includes Fringes on the hood and front panels, with beaded floral motifs. I have created haute couture garMents that were inspired by her work and other traditional Inuit garments made by Inuit.”

Our ARTist collaborations are printed, delicate Leather. They are not WATERPROOF and should not be worn in muddy slush. Please spray them carefully with high-quality, new, silicon-based spray. Wear and tear can be covered with shoe polish.
