Clark’s fall 2014 collection will have you questioning if the Shoes are really Clark’s. The modern lines, the sculpted heels, the asymmetrical zippers denigrate the Clarks of yesteryear: whether it’s Clark’s UK Crepe-soled Wallabies or Mary Janes, lace-up and slip-on… oh my. This season brings Clark’s Purity Frost pictured above; a shootie with a sculpted 3 1/4″ wedge heel, Ortholite insole, and side zipper. Initial reports of comfort from online customers look promising, if he’s wearing heels. But if you don’t do heels, I wouldn’t make these your first ones, no matter how pretty they are. There is no platform to offload some of the pressure in the forefoot, which is natural in a 3″ heel.
Clark’s Purity Frost is Available on Amazon: $29-60 with free shipping.
If you’ve grown tired of basic black Ankle boots, the Clark’s Movie Retro might pique your interest again with its quilted details and angled zipper. The Movie Retro features Clark’s Plus Intelligent Cushioning System underfoot which allows the bones of the foot to settle into their most natural position. A steel shank provides lateral stability and Midfoot support and a chunky 2 1/4″ heel offers a bit of height without compromising comfort (they also come in grey).
